Join us Wednesday, September 29 and Thursday, September 30 for the IASH Fall Symposium.  Hosted by Dr. Matthew DeWitt, the IASH First Vice Chair, this two-day virtual symposium will have invited presentations from technical experts on The Pandemic's Impact on the Fuel Industry and Initiatives for Reduced Emissions (Day 1) and Future Fuel Initiatives (Day 2).  Speakers include fuels experts from IATA, CAAFI, BP, Neste, Bureau Veritas, Lloyd's Register and Airlines Reporting Corporation, and each day promises to be educational and informative.

Paul Bogers was appointed as VP Hydrogen in July 2020 to look after all aspects of the hydrogen value chain. His immediate priority is to build a winning delivery vehicle for the Shell H2 strategy during the exciting nascent phase of the industry capitalising on the early mover advantage.

Previous assignments in Shell included a range of commercial, technical and strategy roles in Shell’s aviation business and overseeing differentiated fuels and lubricants product development in the UK and US leading to a world’s first commercial flights on GTL Jet fuel as well as spearheading marketing of Pennzoil Pureplus – the first Motoroil made from Natural Gas.

Before joining Shell, Paul briefly worked for a boutique strategy consultancy and started out his career as a jet engine designer at Rolls-Royce Plc.

Paul holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, and a post-graduate degree in fluid dynamics from the Von Karman Institute in Brussels and is proficient in 4 European languages.

Paul lives in London and is married to Karen sharing the joy of bringing up a teenage daughter and son.

For the last five years, Amy Carico has served as the Director of Fuel Services and Technical Standards at Airlines for America, where she is responsible for building consensus and finding industry solutions for fuel technical matters on behalf of A4A's member airlines. Prior to A4A, Amy spent 10 years working for the US Department of Defense, including 4 years overseeing the quality of the Navy's fuel supply chain, and 6 years leading the US Army's Aberdeen Test Center fuel and lubricants lab.

Alisdair Clark joined bp in 1988 initially following a career in thermodynamics and refinery optimisation for ground fuel production, later transitioning to aviation fuels. Alisdair has managed the Air bp Aviation Fuels Research and Development programme for many years building experience in manufacture, distribution and use of both Jet and Aviation Gasoline.
In support of the wider industry and the future of flight, Alisdair is a member of the Co-ordinating Research Council Aviation Steering Committee, ASTM, the Aviation Fuels Committee, Energy Institute, Royal Aeronautical Society and CONCAWE, holding various positions to promote innovation, standardization and technical progress.

Steve is a commercial aviation professional with broad, strategic airline, aviation OEM, and SAF experience since 1985. Over his career, Steve has been a strong industry advocate who has worked in roles of developing pragmatic solutions to the challenges of aviation growth, and that interest led him to accepting the current CAAFI Executive Director role in 2012. CAAFI (the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative, www.caafi.org) is industry partnership fostering the development and commercialization of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). CAAFI engages in public-private-partnership activities designed to assist in bringing together the group of participants needed to stand up an entirely new industrial sector.

John Eichberger is Executive Director of the Fuels Institute. Founded by NACS in 2013, the Fuels Institute is a non-profit that evaluates market issues related to vehicles and the energy that powers them. The Institute, led by a diverse Board of transportation experts, is an objective and collaborative research organization that does not advocate.

Previously, Eichberger served more than 14 years at NACS representing the convenience and fuel retailing industry before the media and federal government.

With more than 20 years of related experience, Eichberger is a recognized expert on the transportation energy market.

Anselm Eisentraut joined Neste in 2015, and is currently Head of Market Intelligence in Neste's Strategy unit. He is responsible for providing strategic market intelligence on renewable fuel markets and broader energy sector developments. Prior to joining Neste, Anselm spent 6 years as Renewable Energy Analyst with the International Energy Agency in Paris. He holds a Master in Landscape Ecology. While Anselm is closely following developments in the renewable fuel markets around the world, he is keeping his own fuel consumption low by moving around Helsinki on his bicycle all year round.

Naeem Javaid joined Lloyd’s Register consultancy services in 2007 as marine fuel consultant. Currently he is the Global Operations Manager for the marine fuel consultancy services at Lloyd’s Register (LR) Marine & Offshore. His present role is focused on FOBAS Operations globally, key account management, consultancy on environmental regulations, fuel management, techno – economic assessment of energy choices for ships, project management and consultancy on future marine fuels are key aspects of his present role.

He also represents Lloyd’s Register on different Industry forums such as IMO meetings, ISO Working groups and other industry forums.

Naeem is a graduate marine engineer and has substantial experience of serving onboard ships.

Richard Moore

NASA Langley Research Center

Dr. Richard Moore is an airborne atmospheric scientist at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, USA. In this role, he works closely with the other members of the NASA Langley Aerosol Research Group (LARGE) and NASA Langley Lidar Applications Group to study the interaction between atmospheric aerosols and cloud formation, which are important for resolving key processes governing Earth’s radiation balance, air quality, and climate. A particular research focus is on the role new aircraft engine technologies and designer jet fuels in altering the engine particle emissions that are relevant for contrail-cirrus cloud formation. Dr. Moore served as the Deputy Project Scientist for the recent NASA ACCESS and ND-MAX airborne flight campaigns that studied these processes. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, researching his family history, and hiking the trails of coastal Virginia and taking in the growing local microbrewery scene.

Michael Moosberger is a senior economist at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) specializing in aviation infrastructure and economic appraisal.  He has also led industry standardization initiatives in the aviation fuel operations domain.

 Charlotte Rojgaard

Charlotte Røjgaard is the Global Head of Bureau Veritas’ marine fuel services, VeriFuel.
Charlotte has a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and began her career at MAN Energy Solutions. Following a successful 15 years with MAN, she moved to Singapore to head up the technical team at DNVPS for five years. Charlotte joined Bureau Veritas in 2015 as Global Technical Manager for VeriFuel. In this time, she has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s marine fuels expertise and successfully launching the VeriFuel brand.
Charlotte represents Bureau Veritas’ VeriFuel at conferences and sits on numerous key industry committees, including ISO 8217/TC 28/SC 4/WG 6 and CIMAC WG7 Fuels for which she is currently the secretary.
